Eclipse

It was a good day.

The country united in awe,

Remembering how insignificant

we are in the Universal

scheme of things.

 

A rare event,

this star and moon,

peeking through the atmosphere,

hidden at first in the fog,

finally satisfying.

 

Eclipsing the pain

of a planet in turmoil,

where basic human civility wanes;

and still it tilts on its axis

towards love.
